It’s the City’s 50th or Golden Anniversary and on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 the National Recreation and Parks and Association (NRPA) awarded the City of Fairfax Parks and Recreation Department a Gold Medal at the National Congress in Atlanta, Georgia. City of Fairfax Parks & Recreation Department

The City of Fairfax Parks & Recreation Department makes events like the annual Independence Day Parade, Fall Festival, Chocolate Lovers Festival and others, possible. In addition to these events, they are also responsible for maintaining the City’s 31 parks and four rental facilities, as well as coordinating recreational activities for children, adults and seniors. The City of Fairfax has a thriving Arts community, supported and promoted in part by the Commission on the Arts. Historic Fairfax City, Inc.

Historic Fairfax City Inc. (HFCI) is dedicated to promoting the appreciation and preservation of the history and artifacts of the City of Fairfax as an experience central to the lives of the community.

HFCI, a 501© 3 non-profit, was created by the Fairfax City Council in 1982 to help manage and preserve historic properties within the City of Fairfax and to increase the public’s awareness and appreciation for those properties and for the City’s rich history. More
